Leata's background is in musical theatre and performed in Hair on Broadway and then the Sophisticated Ladies following her move to Los Angeles. In 1980, Leata was on the soundtrack album to the movie Stir Crazy then in 1983 arrived at Columbia Records with two featured songs on an album Paul Jabara And Friends.
